The Problem:
The customer had an existing 85kW wind turbine and wanted to add a 30kW solar with 30kW of battery storage system to increase energy production in the summer months the customer went for battery storage as they had to run 3 farmhouses and the farm from one 3 phase supply, meaning the site uses power at night when the sun goes down.
The Solution:
As the customer had ample south facing roofs, solar seemed the best way to achieve that. He also made use of the government grant for solar allowing him to claim 25% of his investment. We integrated the wind turbine with the battery storage to also charge the battery through wind energy.
The Results:
The following statistics are from the time of install – mid-September to mid-October. The projected payback of the system is 2 years. This job took 1 week to complete.
- 2.5 MWh in one month
- 62% of energy used onsite is coming from solar energy
- 1.8 MWh exported to the grid which has generated income through the SEG scheme
