We are Power 4 U. Run by Jamie and Jimmy, we’re a small and agile local business that takes pride in all of the work we perform for customers.
As it’s just the two of us, we’re involved in each stage of the process, from initial phone call and quote, through to install, commissioning and handover, ensuring that our service is delivered precisely to specification.
Our Solar Care package is also unique in the market, offering that extra added value to our customers.
Why Battery Storage?
There are many good reasons to consider battery storage alongside solar panels for your home. Below you will find some of the reasons that we think are the best:
- Increase the value of your home and make it more saleable: Many people find both the economical and ecological benefits appealing and give you the edge, should you ever look to sell your home.
- Save on bills: Battery storage works to store energy during off peak hours, so it can be used during peak hours, saving money on your bills.
- Go Green! You’ll feel brilliant about doing your bit for the environment!
- Less reliant on the grid: With battery storage, you’re using your own stored energy instead of importing it from the grid, which means that you can still function during power outages.
Solar battery storage is used to store the excess energy generated from solar panels, allowing you to use it when you need it most.
The energy generated through solar will satisfy any loads in the property first, then charge your battery to be stored for use when the sun goes down. Without a battery this energy would just be exported to the grid.
We partner with brands like Alpha ESS and Sunsynk to bring you the most effective and efficient solar battery storage, suitable for both residential and commercial use.
How long do the batteries last?
Lithium Ions degrade over time so a battery that starts life as a 10kW may drop to 9.5kW over a few years. An acceptable lifespan would be at least 10 years with a degradation of around 20%. Most of the batteries we install have an 8000-10,000 life cycle.
How long will it take to pay back my investment?
It typically takes 7-10 years to pay back an investment in solar battery storage for your residential property, more often than not, the lower end of the scale.
What is the warranty on a battery?
This varies by manufacturer, but generally, there should be around 5-10 years product warranty. All of this information would be on our proposal.
How can we monitor our system?
All our batteries come with an easy to use, intuitive smartphone app that can also be accessed from your computer. This also allows us to monitor your system remotely, meaning we can often diagnose faults, alter settings for you and perform software updates for you.
How does it work in the winter?
As we all know UK winters can be very bleak with very little sun, and this does affect solar generation. An option for anyone with one of our battery storage systems is, to charge the battery storage up from the grid on an off-peak rate to use throughout the day. With off peak rates as low as 3p per kWh this is a massive saving worth considering when deciding on battery storage.
The Solar Process

Step One
Full Site Survey
After receiving your enquiry, our friendly team will reach out with any questions and to book in a full site survey and consultation where we will look at your usage and spec a system to your needs.
We will assess the roof, and existing electrical setups to cover off your solar requirements, and then move onto battery storage as an add-on, if you wish. We will then provide a full and comprehensive proposal within 48 hours of survey.
2.
Step TWO
Install Day
We aim to complete install within 3 weeks of acceptance.
Applications, scaffolding and admin would have all been completed prior to site visit, and domestic installs take on average 1-2 days.
After the install is complete, we do a complete handover, discuss smart phone connection, safety pointers and answer any other questions.

Step Three
Aftercare
Post installation, we monitor all of our systems off site, to ensure everything is working as it should be.
We carry out annual service visits to keep your system working to its maximum potential. This is called Solar Care.

Power4U recently installed 17 panels on our Harrogate house in the pouring rain and a battery in the garage. The installers were polite and tidy. The system was producing electricity by 4pm that day and they produce when it is bright but not directly sunny .
The whole process was seamless, from the initial meeting, through consideration of the quotes, to the actual installation.

Well what can I say. From start to finish the lads have been great very professional. Along with SPS roofing they arrived when they said they would, due to rain it took them a little longer than they thought. But this is day two of my adventure and the system is doing more than I thought it would. Only issue I have is that I'm now exporting back to the grid and not getting paid for it. It's just a matter of time. Just be warned they all like a nice bacon and egg tea cake. I would recommend Jimmy & Jamie to anyone who was looking for a local installer

The job was for a village hall in the Yorkshire Dales National Park this requiring planning application and also funding applications so the process was very protracted. Due to the commitment and communications throughout from Jimmy the install eventually went ahead following the approval of applications being granted.

Great Job from start to finish. Came round to give us a quote for Solar and Battery storage within the week, written quoted followed quickly after that. I was having my house re-roofed at the same time and Jimmy / Jamie worked seamlessly with Hunter Roofing to fit the solar as part of that work - end result is solar panels 'in roof' all aligned nicely with the new tiles. Their work is of a high quality and a really neat, professional looking finish. They even took the time to explain how everything works and how to get the best out of the system. Definitely recommend them to anyone who's having or thinking of having the same work done.

Power4U installed my solar system just short of a year ago and even though it was quite a miserable year for weather, it has generated over 10% more than the estimated yearly output I was quoted, which I'm very happy with.

Really pleased with our new solar system. These guys were great, responsive to our needs and happily updating and reviewing our quote until we’d settled on the system that matched our needs and budget. Considerate workers. Both of us work from home and disruption was kept to an absolute minimum meaning work was not compromised or impacted at all. There was a glitch with one of the bits of kit that was installed and they didn’t leave until it was all sorted and tested and fully functioning. When we’re ready to upgrade to a battery system too we’ll definitely come back to Jimmy et al for that.

When the job couldn’t be completed due to the weather they came back as soon as they could to finish the job. High quality workmanship and supplied great equipment.
